not to harp on this but you're the first person i met that never seen fight club. i was telling people the other day that if you still list "fight club" as your fav film of all time, you haven't grown. it is such a pivotal film/book during my late teens/early 20s. also, david fincher = no brainer. where abouts are you from?

DEVELOPING: Fears that sinking house may slide down north Asheville mountainside

beaverdam_house1This is a harrowing situation. From the Asheville Citizen-Times this morning:

In the Beaverdam community, some residents of a mountainside neighborhood on Black Oak Drive said they fear that a house, or the ground it sits atop, may come sliding down into their homes. Buncombe County emergency officials condemned the house at 145 Black Oak Drive and called a meeting for 6:30 p.m. today at the Reems Creek Fire Department on Beaverdam Road to talk about the issue.

“We just don’t know what to do. We’re waiting to see if the mountain is going to fall down,” said Chris Poulos, who owns two homes on Black Oak Drive.

Poulos said he moved his wife, son and pets out of his home at 115 Black Oak Drive on Wednesday. He said he’s seen the falling house, and said the garage had sunken about three feet below the asphalt drive to the house. A covered deck has pulled away from the house and is falling down, he said.

Here’s a video of flooding on Pinecroft Road just last night. Pinecroft is below, and connects to, Black Oak Drive.
